You call that a PARK?When we moved to our neighborhood a few years ago, there was a well-used empty lot on Jammes Road that seemed to be a local congregation spot. We always saw cars parked in a circle, with (usually) older gentlemen sitting around talking and laughing, generally having a great time. Of course, they were sitting on their car trunks, or truck tailgates, because there was nothing to sit on, being just an empty lot full of trees. On colder days, someone brought a metal barrel to have a fire in, which always got cleaned up afterwards. The men always seemed to be enjoying themselves, though. Fast forward to about two years ago - the city has come through and made this lot a City Park! It now has a sign on the corner, proclaiming it as "Jammes Road Park", with the requisite list of rules below it. THAT'S ALL THAT WAS DONE! There are still no benches to sit on, no trash can for rubbish, no flowers or sod planted...and now there are no groups of gentlemen sitting around a trash barrel sharing a story and a laugh, either. They probably got in trouble for the bonfire once and decided it wasn't worth the trouble anymore. The city has the nerve to call this a park? What a joke!
