Neighborhood Food Ministry (All Food Free)
Hi, do you need a helping hand? Are you are between jobs, disabled, on a fixed income? If so, please join us for the weekly neighborhood food give away. The members of the Laugh at Cancer support group have collaborated with Gleaners Dispatch, Faith Baptist Church, and Pinebreeze Mobile Home Park. We are working together, in order to bring fresh food to families that are need. Every Friday, several of our volunteers meet and give out fresh food to families, within this neighborhood. For more information about Gleaner’s Dispatch and community programs that they sponsor in Jacksonville, FL…visit their new blog: http://gleaners4u.blogspot.com. If you live in Jacksonville, Florida and want more information about our ministry...please email mamafrog33@bellsouth.net. May God bless your family and the many volunteers that bring this program to you each week! You call that a PARK?
When we moved to our neighborhood a few years ago, there was a well-used empty lot on Jammes Road that seemed to be a local congregation spot. We always saw cars parked in a circle, with (usually) older gentlemen sitting around talking and laughing, generally having a great time. Of course, they were sitting on their car trunks, or truck tailgates, because there was nothing to sit on, being just an empty lot full of trees. On colder days, someone brought a metal barrel to have a fire in, which always got cleaned up afterwards. The men always seemed to be enjoying themselves, though.
SafeHouse of Jax needs your help for Christmas party
Westsiders (and everyone else): SafeHouse of Jacksonville needs your help. With only 9 days to its Westside Christmas Party, donations of toys for the children are slim, officials say. Toy drop-offs are at SafeHouse of Jacksonville (3325-8 Plymouth St. off Edgewood and Roosevelt Blvd.), Murray Hill Theater on South Edgewood Ave., and Snap Fitness, 1661 Riverside Ave. Or contact Lottie or Joe Howell at 425-4228 or 708-7167, or e-mail safehouseofjax@aol.com. Visit www.safehousejax.com for more details. The party is at 9 a.m. Dec. 22 at the Teamsters Local Union #512, 1210 N. Lane Ave. Related: PhillipMilano's blog | login or register to post comments | Tags: Christmas party | dropoffs | SafeHouse | toys | Westside
